We had the best time photographing Ashley & Aaron’s big day a few weeks ago.

We kicked off the day by the gals getting ready at the amazing Penelopie Beauty Bar in West Des Moines.

I can’t say great things about this location for bridal makeup in Des Moines, ladies check it out! (Or even for a fun date night or engagement photos! They are beyond amazing!)

From there we had their first look at their church and the beautiful ceremony to follow.

We LOVE when our couples listen to us on taking some extra time to visit a location for photos besides your ceremony or reception.

We headed out from there to this gorgeous nature preserve just a few min trip from the Des Moines area for portraits.

For July it was just the perfect day weather wise. What gorgeous light!

We even lucked out with some fun rainbow lens flares!

The reception followed in West Des Moines at Noah’s Event Venue. What a beautiful space for a reception!

Des Moines has acquired so many new wonderful venues since Tanner and I started photographing weddings in 2009. Love shooting new places! I hope we return to Noah’s soon!

We headed outside at sunset for some portraits after the first dances and that light was just perfection!

Thanks for having us you two! We had the best time photographing your big day and it’s so great to have the bridal party and couple feel like family and friends.

Taylor and Billy had the most beautiful Iowa barn wedding at Red Acre Barn just a few minuets south of Des Moines. The night even ended with quite the bang!

They went all out on florals with the amazing Shelly Sarver Designs, as always her arrangements blow us away!

Despite the 93 degree day they had the best day filled with laughter and smiles celebrating with family and friends.

We started with some portraits indoors pre-ceremony to beat the heat.

Thankfully the barn has a ton of great natural light and so fun to be able to do portraits with all the great barnwood in the background!

They also got their guests amazing USB powered fans to keep cool during the ceremony with their initials on them. What a fantastic wedding party gift idea.

Post ceremony we took some sunset portraits around the barn in the tall grass areas.

What a gorgeous spot for a wedding!
