Drake Relays Street Painting 2015

I had a blast photographing and street painting for the 2015 Drake Relays last week on Court Ave for Visionary! Also loved meeting the beautiful Porterhouses Choice bulldog Steve, what a little cutie. If you know us we sure love our fur child bulldog, so great to see an event that features lots of beautiful bulldogs! [: (Yes my street painting crew lost me for at-least 10 min while Steve and I bonded, he’s a sassy little guy!)

If you get the chance and are around the Drake Relays festivities are a blast ever year. There are lots of fun free events the public can attend that are family friendly including street painting, pole vault, The Grand Blue Mile, and road races. I highly suggest checking them out! The actual Relay’s on Th/Friday/Sat (that I got to actually photograph last year!) are a blast to attend too if you get the chance!

Connecting DSM | Des Moines Central Public Library Event

Always great to meet other local vendors and see new wonderful venue spaces. I had no idea the downtown Central Public Library could hold events and even is available for wedding receptions! It’s a fun unique space in the heart of downtown Des Moines to check out. Also may I add it is VERY affordable.

Tilt-Shift Downtown Des Moines Throwback | Iowa Landscapes

Being a photographer you find yourself taking thousands of photos, and never editing the ‘fun ones’ or ‘not paid shoots’ aka years later you find all these awesome RAW files and editing them like “OH MAN HOW DID I NEVER FIND THE TIME FOR THIS!” Well, January years later is the perfect time!

While searching to put together a gallery of all our landscapes over the years I came across this stormy June afternoon wandering around my old loft in East Village and downtown Des Moines. It’s crazy how much has changed since 2011! The World Food Prize building was under construction, the old Riverfront downtown YMCA was still alive and kicking, the amazing Locust Tap was open, the Nollen Plaza (now Cowels Commons) wasn’t yet under construction as it is today and Amiee was yet to have moved to her new fabulous location just to name a few.

So fun to see how many great changes have been made in the last few years just within a few blocks! Also this fuels my need to purchase a tilt-shift more than ever. Enjoy the throwback Des Moines residents!
