Sarah + Nick Engaged | Des Moines Iowa Engagement Photographers | East Village

If your viewing this on facebook head on over to our blog at https://www.ztsblog.com

Saturday we meet up with Sarah and Nick in East Village just outside of downtown Des Moines. It is great when we just instantly click with our couples and it feels like we have been friends for years. Really makes our job so much easier and these two did just that! They are our first couple that booked for the 2011 wedding season (Yes 2011! Where did the time go!) and even though their weddings a little less than a year away we couldn’t be more excited.

Here are a few of our favorite images from the day:

Thanks Sarah and Nick we had a wonderful time with you two. It feels like your old friends! You are so much fun and we are excited to see you again soon.

June Engagement Shootout | Iowa Photographers Meetup

If your viewing this on facebook head on over to our blog at https://www.ztsblog.com

Sunday evening we headed off to a field just south-west of downtown Des Moines to meet-up with some other local photographers from the area to do a fun group engagement shoot!

The other photographers present were:

Sarah & Chris Davis of Lucky Soda Photography

Joey Early of Life Art Photographs

Lance Shuey of Lance Shuey Photography

We had the pleasure of shooting Jennifer Neynes and her fiance James Doser who run Fire Lily Photography out of Ames, IA and are getting married in two months.

Sarah and Chris’s daughter Bella also tagged along for the shoot and captured some great images a well for being only six! Here is a quick shot of Joey handing over the camera:

Tanner and I thought it would be a great time to do some more nature stuff as well as try to shoot more telephoto so many of these photos are taken with our 70-200 f/2.8 or 135 mm f/2, 50 f/1.4 and 85 f/1.8 as we tend to shoot with ultra-wide glass often.

Shot of Tanner in action:

And Joey:

Bella rockn’ the D700…seriously think she out-shot us all! Watch out Iowa this girl is going places!

Chris:

Jen you are so gorgeous!

Look at Bella rock it!

From here Joey decided we should hike across the field and get some shots at the top of a great point overlooking downtown so he and Chris cleared the path.

A few more shots of Tanner snapping pics:

Tanner got a great shot of her ring. Hand made by her wonderful fiance!

Chatting for a bit after the shoot.

Some fun shots of Bella! She is sure used to having her picture taken! What a cutie!

Tanner had never even HELD a film camera so Joey volunteered to let him try it out. Here is a shot of Tanner’s first ever film experience. Please don’t get addicted we can’t afford film! 😛

A big thanks to Sarah and Chris again  for putting this all together you two are absolutely wonderful and to Jen and James for being such great sports! She hiked through a muddy field in heels with us for a good hour! That is skill.

If your a local photographer in the Des Moines area feel free to join us in monthly meetings (usually 2nd or 3rd Monday of the month) by hitting up the Des Moines Area Photographers Monthly Meetup on Facebook for more info!

Introducing the ZTS Photo iPad! | Des Moines Wedding Photographers

If your viewing this on Facebook head on over to our blog at: https://www.ztsblog.com

Finally after well over a month of waiting for it WE GOT OUR 3G iPad!

We have actually had it a few weeks now but it is still pretty new to us! Having internet in the middle of a corn field comes in handy when we are explaining a pose to a senior. It is so interactive, light, fun, and the screen is just gorgeous!

The ability to just whip out the iPad and show what we are explaining…priceless! It also has other separate random uses where the iPad comes in handy for example recently at a wedding Tanner received the question, “Which side do the boutonnieres  go on?” Oh let us just whip out our iPad and find out for you! Google on the go is wonderful.

It is something that we are just plain excited about for our business! Just the mere ability to use our Flickr’s photo-streams to search for past pics and download them (Tanmans & mine), show people our work as electronic albums from anywhere directly with an app from our print site, pictures of poses we want to try out for the shoot (So much easier to show than to explain for 30 seconds to a confused look how we want you to sit, where your hands go, etc.), upload photos at weddings for interactive sideshows where YOU get to scroll through the pictures at your own pace. (Which we did recently! It was amazing!)

We can enter receipts into Quicken from anywhere. The ability to set up a merchant account and take credit cards and sign electronic contracts from your living room (possibility in the future) is wonderful. Live view from Camera to iPad directly as were shooting (haven’t attempted this but want to!) so the clients mother can see the pictures instantly as we are shooting.

Really…it was made for photographers. (Not really but WOW it sure has helped!) There are so many ideas and possibilities having an iPad unlocks. So far we love our iPad!
